Eligible businesses may be able to reduce the cost of workplace EV charging through government grant support. Use the current scheme guidance to check your site, proposed installation and application requirements.

Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS)

Support towards the purchase and installation of workplace EV chargepoints.

Available until 31 March 2027, subject to government scheme conditions.
Grant level Up to 75% of eligible costs, capped at £500 per socket for installations completed from 1 April 2026. Maximum 40 sockets across all sites per applicant.
Eligibility Businesses, charities and public sector organisations that meet the applicant and site criteria. Check the current guidance before committing to an installation.
Installation An OZEV-authorised installer must claim the grant.

EV infrastructure grant for staff and fleets

This scheme is closed.

Customer applications closed on 31 March 2026, installer claims closed on 26 May 2026 and the final deadline for requested claim resubmissions was 13 July 2026, unless an earlier portal deadline applied. Do not include this scheme as available funding in a new charging proposal.

Explore local funding opportunities

Alongside the Workplace Charging Scheme, check whether your local or combined authority offers business net zero, energy efficiency or decarbonisation support. Availability, eligible costs and application windows vary by area.

Depending on the programme, support may cover electrical upgrades, solar PV, battery storage or workshop energy improvements. Ask the funding provider what is eligible before ordering equipment or starting work.

Combining funding may be possible where both schemes allow it. Confirm the subsidy rules and keep costs clearly separated: the same expense must not be funded twice.

Your next steps

  1. Review your current and future EV courtesy vehicle, staff and fleet charging needs.
  2. Arrange a site survey and quotations from OZEV-authorised installers, including electrical capacity and any upgrade costs.
  3. Confirm dedicated off-street parking, property ownership or landlord consent, and the proposed use of each charger. Check that courtesy fleet charging meets the scheme criteria; customer parking is not eligible.
  4. Check the current WCS guidance, apply before installation and give your approved voucher to the installer.
  5. Check local funding separately and confirm any conditions before committing to the work.

Workplace charging can help keep EV courtesy vehicles ready for the next customer and support your wider fleet plans. Record electricity use and vehicle activity so you can assess the results and inform your carbon reduction plan.
